On 22nd September 2013, in regard to International day of Peace a seminar on “Promotion of Peace for Social and Economic Development” was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) at village # 225 R.B., Malkhanwala, Faisalabad. The seminar was joined by more than 100 people belonging to different spheres of life while Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program manager – PNI).), Nasir Jacob, Ms. Shazia George, Ms. Razia James, Mr. Akram, Javaid David, Mr. Asim lall, and Rose William were among the speakers of the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar was to mark International day of peace and to condemn the brutal killing of innocent Christians while they were attending the Sunday prayer service at All Saints Church at Chohati Gate, Peshawar. Present situation of Law and order, social and economic development, statistics of violence and terror, poor policies and bad governance and need of peace for social and interfaith harmony were the topics of discussion during the seminar.
Peace for nation international (PNI) is working to serve the marginalized communities to promote peace, democracy and human rights of women, children and labors. PNI believes that without long lasting peace, social and economic development is seems unattainable. Keeping in view the present situation of persecution of innocent Christian, it is an alarming for Christian community and other religious minorities in Pakistan. We are going through very miserable condition; Christian citizens of Pakistan have been suffering with sense of insecurity and panic. Non state actors are willing to establish a state into state, these non state actors are against our peace, democratic system and constitution of Pakistan. Political and social activists, the officials of Police and security agencies along with common citizens are being killed by targeted activities of Taliban and other extremists groups.
Speakers more said that Christian schools and Churches are being targeted and thousands of innocent citizens have been killed by terrorists through suicide bombing by Talibans. In recent attack on Peshawar Church almost 200 Christians were killed by suicide bomber while they were praying during Sunday church service. They said that we should need to be together against all negative forces who are trying to destroy our peace. Government should take irony measures against such kind of brutal terrorism activities. Solid and effective legislation was also demand by the speakers of the seminar. Participants are encouraged to contribute their role for the promotion of peace and human rights. The activity was concluded with prayer for the long lasting peace in Pakistan for our social and economic development.
On 23rd September, 2013 a protest rally was organized by Peace fro nation international (PNI) & other civil society organizations of District Faisalabad. The protest was joined by more than 1000 people belong to different spheres of life. While Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program manger – PNI), Mr. Eric David, Pastor Sohail, Mr. Javed Samuel were among the speakers of the rally. The representatives of electronic and print media were present to cover the news.
On 25th September 2013, a memorial service for the Martyrs and Special prayer service for the wounded people of Peshawar church attack was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) and other civil society organizations of Faisalabad, at Press Club Faisalabad. Special prayers were offered for the wounded people, all the people pays tribute to the Martyrs of Bomb blast, candles were burnt in their remembrance for solidarity.
The speakers of activity shared their grievance regarding killing of innocent Christians and condemned the all sorts of terrorism activities in Pakistan. They encouraged the people to be united against the anti peace forces who are trying to destroy the peace of Pakistan.
Participants having candles in their hands were chanting slogans against Taliban and other non state actors involved in such kind of terrorism activities. They demanded solid and long lasting peace in Pakistan.
Speakers more said that we are thankful to media and civil society organizations for solidarity with victims of Peshawar Church incident.
Peace for nation international (PNI) in collaboration with different civil society organizations, staged a rally to mark world day of peace 2014 held at Faisalabad on December 31, 2013. The rally was joined by a large number of people hailing from different communities.
There was wonderful participation of the people and they were chanting slogans against terrorism and blasts at worships places of all religions.
Speakers appreciated the participation of people for the promotion of interfaith harmony. They shared that we should play our role to promote peace because we cannot make progress without peace. They said that we should also promote education because education is a basic tool to promote peace, democracy and human rights. We should condemn all kinds of violence, intolerance, discrimination and prejudice to make a peaceful and just society.
On 1st January 2014, a peace seminar was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) in collaboration with other civil society organizations at Hajwari town Faisalabad to mark world day of peace 2014. The purpose of this seminar was to address currant issues related to peace and democracy. The importance of democracy and power of vote was also shared by the speakers. They said that we should adopt democratic values and principles for the promotion of peace and human rights in Pakistan.
They condemn all sorts of discrimination and terrorism. They said we need to be united to fight against terrorism and attacks worship places. Speakers emphasized upon the promotion of inter and intra faith harmony for the best interest of our beloved country.
On 30th April 2014 today, a meeting entitled “Promotion of peace and inter-faith harmony” was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) at village 235 R.B, Niamoonwala. The meeting was joined by 23 male and female participants belong to different spheres of life to discus social issues related to peace among different religions and sects.
The purpose of the activity was to engage people of different religions to play their role at the time of any conflict between the people of two religions. There is social discrimination and prejudice in the society, the community protection group will be very much helpful to play its role to eliminate social discrimination, prejudice and persecution.
Mr. Zafar Iqbal requested the members of community protection group to work together for the promotion of peace and inter-faith harmony to build a peaceful society. The meeting was concluded with the prayer for solid and long lasting peace in the country.
On 27th May 2014, a consultation meeting was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) at office of harmony foundation at Daud Nagar, Faisalabad. Meeting was joined by 22 human rights defenders of Faisalabad, members of community protection group. Problems and hurdles faced in recent days by human rights defenders was the main topic of discussion.
Some fact finding reports were shared with facts and figures and back grounds. The participants shared that numbers of human rights activist have been killed, some are still receiving threats. The activists who are striving for the rights of Brick kiln workers; their lives are on the risk. Plan of action and work strategy was reviewed during the meeting.
The participants said that we are the people of God and it’s our obligation to raise voice for the rights of vulnerable and marginalized Christian people. The meeting was concluded with prayer for the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan.
On 21st September 2014 in regard to international day of peace, a seminar entitled “Peace building in Pakistan, role of state, civil society & religions” was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) in collaboration with Arooj e Marriam Catholic Church Faisalabad, Agency for sustainable development (ASDP) & South Asia Partnership (SAP) at Centre for Peace and Harmony at chk 7 J.B. Sargodha Road, Faisalabad. The seminar was joined by 200 male and female participants belong to different spheres of life while Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Chairman-PNI), Fr. Nisar Barkat (Director-CPH), Mrs. Amina Zaman (Director-ASDP), Ch. Iftikhar Ahmed (SAP), Mrs. Najma Afzal (MPA-Punjab), Mr. Haji Akram Insari (MNA), Ms. Aqsa Kanwal (Project Manager) Maulana Yousaf Anwar and Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi (Central Secretary General-Pakistan Ulema Council) were among the speakers of the seminar. Peace building efforts, role and responsibilities of state, civil society and religions were discussed during the seminar.
Advocate Hashmat Barkat said that Peace for nation international (PNI) believes that without peace we cannot move ahead towards democracy and human rights. Promotion of peace and social harmony is our prime objective to achieve our goal. We are striving for the promotion of peace and education to develop a peaceful and educated society. We appreciate the role of civil society and religious leaders to promote peace and tolerance through meetings, seminars and walks.
Speakers shared that state is responsible to maintain Law and order to provide peace and security but we all have to participate in peace promotion. All religions have the message of love, peace and tolerance for the whole humanity. Religious leaders and members of civil society are playing a vital role to engage the people in peace building activities.
They further said that we all have to adopt democratic principles and values for the promotion and protection of human rights as a peaceful and responsible citizen of Pakistan. We should have respect for all faiths, religions and sects. We should denounce all sorts of violence, social discrimination and prejudice. We need unity as our strength to take stand against all anti peace and anti state elements.
The seminar was concluded with prayers for the long-lasting peace and progress for our beloved homeland and its people.

HomeNet Pakistan district action committee and Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM) on Sunday said the government should constitute a judicial commission to probe the blasphemy and subsequent violence in Kasur without delay and the findings of the commission be made public.
Speaking at a press conference, Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Founder & Chairman PNI), AWAM Executive Director Nazia Sardar, Awami Workers Party General Secretary Arif Ayaz and Lady Health Workers Association leader Suraiya Waseer expressed concern over the burning of the Christian couple at Kot Radha Kishan.
“The Christian citizens in neighbouring villages has fled the area for fear of their safety. The police arrested many suspects, but the main accused is still at large,” Advocate Hashmat Barkat said.
They criticized police for failing to rescue the couple.
“The government has failed to protect minority groups being targeted through exploitation of blasphemy laws,” Nazia said.
“The government must take measures to stop the misuse of blasphemy laws through reforming it,” they added. They demanded that the government take steps to ensure safety and security of the family of the deceased. They said minorities had been suffering under discriminatory laws formed by weak governments seeking to consolidate their rule by pandering to the extreme Right. They said it was time that minorities were brought to mainstream politics to end their plight.
On 11th January 2015, Peace for nation international (PNI) organized a community meeting to promote peace and tolerance at Chk # 123 J.B. Essa Nagri, Layolpur town, Faisalabad. The meeting was joined by 40 people belong to different spheres of life. The purpose of the meeting was to encourage the community to play their role to promote peace in society for the best interest of our beloved homeland.
Mr. Hashmat Barkat (founder & Chairman - PNI), addressed the current situation of Law and order and war like circumstances in the country. He shared regarding national plan of action against terrorism and welcomed the recent constitutional amendment to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan. He further said that terrorism is the most horrible threat of today. It has become a global problem. The whole world is facing the horrible consequences of terrorism. Bomb blast, hijacking, cross border terrorist activities and massacre on a massive scale are the familiar forms of terrorism. In my opinion, the main motive of terrorism is to weaken a country politically, socially, economically and administratively. Though much effort is in progress to eliminate terrorism from world, but it cannot be rooted out until some international laws of justice are devised. In beginning, first solid step should be taken to eliminate the illegal foreign entry and financial support. Children are worried about their future and frightened over going on bloody situation across the world. We are for Peace, we want peace.
Mr. Hashmat Barkat further demanded that a very comprehensive border security plan should be formulated to control the foreign terrorists for entering in Pakistan and using our soil for terrorist activities and the ban on hate speech should be implemented in letter and spirit and all those found in spreading hate speech through print or electronic media or through loud speakers should be apprehended.
Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program manager - PNI), while addressing the participants of the meeting said that “Pakistan has suffered enough and now this should be enough and the government, political leadership and the law enforcement institutions should do everything required to end terrorism and religious extremism which is important for the safety and security of the citizens”. Mr. Zafar Iqbal further added that people of Pakistan will not just rely on the lip-service but want to see the implementation of the Action Plan which has been formulated after the attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar”. Mr. ZafarIqbal demanded that the access of the militant outfits to the educational institutions and their financing should be checked and banned and all those individuals or groups who are supporting the militants and terrorists openly or secretly should be held accountable.
On 18th January 2015, Peace for nation international (PNI) organized a peace building meeting to promote peace and social harmony at Chk # 279 R.B. Madina Abad, Jinnah town, Faisalabad. The meeting was joined by 50 people belong to different spheres of life. The purpose of the meeting was to underline the root causes of anti peace activities and elements. There was an active participation by the community leaders include Mr. Imran Taija (X-Minority Counselor), Pastor Sohail, Mr. Ashraf and Kamran. They indicated some causes which need to address and eliminate for the development and promotion of peace and social harmony. Mr. Hashmat Barkat (founder & Chairman - PNI) expressed his views and termed the peace and tolerance as our basic need during a confrontational situation in the country.
Participants shared that inflation, unemployment, unavailability of basic essentials of life include; cheep food items, Power, Gas and Petrol, are also the reasons behind the situation of insecurity in the society. They said that our current provincial and federal governments are busy at political confrontation and no more interested to solve the problems of common man. Government should take solid measures to provide basic rights, fundamental freedoms and fool proof security to its people. Government should take action against hate speeches, misuse of powers and all non state actors who are promoting sectarianism in the country, they demanded.
Mr. Hashmat Barkat further said that government should review the education policy to provide a syllabus consists of fundamental rights, peace and tolerance to educate our people to be peaceful and faithful citizens. People friendly policies should be made to provide timely justice with all essentials of life without any discrimination. Elimination of violence and corruption should be the priority by government, he demanded.
Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program manager-PNI) shared that bad governance by non faithful politicians who are working to promote their dear and near ones and their personal businesses. They have no secured future plan for our country. We are independent in agriculture and many natural resources but we are running our country by the loans on high markup by IMF and World Bank. We do not have a disaster management program for our people. Politicians are living luxurious life and people of Pakistan are dying due to inflation and high rate poverty. Many people are committing suicides because they don’t have to eat due unemployment, generated by shortfall of Gas and electricity. There is need to work together to get fundamental rights, financial security and long lasting peace, he added.

The meeting was joined by 60 people belong to different religions and sects. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a platform to sit together for dialogues to build a bridge between different religions and sects to share commonalities to promote love, peace, tolerance and inter faith harmony to develop a peaceful and just society for the best interest of our beloved country. Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Founder & Chairman – PNI) and Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program Manager – PNI) were among the speakers. During the meeting recent blasphemous publication by French magazine was strongly condemned and solid action against the writer, editor and owner of the magazine, was demanded.
Speakers said that non state actors, the enemies of our country intend to divide us to get their seditious objectives but we are here to stand against them. Pakistan is our home and we all citizens are like a family. We belong to different religions and sects but we are united to promote peace, tolerance and inter faith harmony in the society. We appreciate the initiatives taken by our Government and our Pak Army through national plan of action against terrorism. The derogating publication in French Magazine is a conspiracy against the World peace. We strongly condemn the publication. United nation should notice and take action against such kind of elements. We demand a comprehensive legislation by United Nations to eliminate the blasphemy of all religions and the Holy Prophets.
Every religion has a message of love, peace and tolerance. It is also our religious obligation to promote peace, love and tolerance. We should promote human right and education to educate the society to bring peace and social harmony. Community leaders, youth and religious leaders can play more effective role to denounce segregation and discrimination in the society. Only in peaceful circumstances we can work for education, health and human rights. Our economic growth and social development is seems impossible without peace. We have to be a peace promoter for the overall development of our country. We need to build more bridges to bring together all religions and sects at same platform to counter terrorism and hate speeches.

The protest meeting was joined by 35 participants while Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Chairman PNI), Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program Manager PNI), Evangelist Joshua Bashir, Mr. Azeem Salamat Mattu and Pastor Naveed Sagar were among the speakers. During the meeting promotion of peace and inter faith harmony termed as basic need of present days and derogating publications or remarks strongly condemned. Message of love, peace, tolerance and solidarity was given from the platform of Church and respect of all religions and faiths were underlined. Shikaarpur incident was also condemned where at Imam bargha was targeted and more than 60 people martyred and dozens are injured by Talibans.
Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Chairman PNI) said that respect of all religions and faiths is a foundation to build a peaceful society. Derogating and blasphemous publication or remarks are strongly condemnable and most shameful act. Such kind of incidents in Western countries is needed to stop now for the best interest of World peace. We are here to show solidarity with our Muslim brothers and we are always against the blasphemy of religions and Holy Prophets. Shikaarpur Imam Barhga incident is attack on all of us, we are sad and we demand solid and immediate action against the culprits.

Evangelist Joshua Bashir, Mr. Azeem Salamt and Pastor Naveed Sagar shared that we are a peaceful nation but some non state actors and radical groups are busy to divide our nation in the name of religion, sects, cast and creeds. We condemn every kind of segregation, blasphemous publications or remarks and terrorist attacks on shrines, worship places and academic institutions. They also strongly condemned the attack on Imam Bargha at shikaarpur sindh in which more than 60 people have been martyred and dozens of injured due to suicide bombing by Jindd ullah the group of Talibans, they added.
On 22 may 2015, a meeting was organized by Peace for nation international (PNI) in collaboration with association for women for awareness and motivation (AWAM – Pakistan) under REAT network at P-502, Main Bazar, Christian town, Faisalabad. This activity entitled “Youth as Ambassadors of Peace” with youth members of UC-184 is part of a Program “Promotion of Peace and Social Harmony” running by AWAM association. The meeting was joined by 25 youth participants while Mr. Faisala Rasheed (Liaison Officer- AWAM) led the meeting.
Need and importance of peace and social harmony was discussed and it was decided to organize different activities for the promotion of peace and social harmony in the best interest of the people of Faisalabad by engaging youth, religious leaders, community leaders and members of peace committee of UC-184.
Youth were given a task to meet with students of high schools and colleges to share the message of peace and tolerance and invite more people to join us to work together for our union council to promote culture of tolerance and acceptance. Youth were also told to collect data of religious worship places and extend awareness regarding equal respect of all worship places.
Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Founder & Chairman – PNI) said that youth can play best role to promote peace, social harmony and human rights. He admired the initiatives of AWAM association to promote peace and harmony, women rights and democracy. He offered his complete cooperation on the behalf of peace for nation international to build peaceful society by the help of youth.
On 8th June 2015, at Golden Flame restaurant, a seminar entitled “Safety & Security of Ethnic and Religious Minorities” was organized by Pakistan Institute of Labour Education & Research (PILER) to address the violations of minority’s rights in Pakistan. The seminar was joined by almost 200 people belong to different spheres of like while Ch. Tariq Awan (Coordinator Punjab - PILLER), Advocate Hashmat Barkat (Chairman – PNI), Advocate Tahir Naveed Ch. (Chairman – PMA), Mrs. Madiha Rana (MPA – (N) League), Ms. Muqadas Abro (Coordinator – PILER), Mr. ZafarIqbal (Program manager – PNI), Mrs. Christina Peter (Executive Director – AWARD) and Mr. Tahir Mehmood (Social activist – PILER) were among the speakers of the seminar.
Lack of implementation on the recommendations and orders of inquiry report on Gojra incident and attack of All saints Church at Peshawar was discussed. Establishment of intelligence & crime Prevention Branches, Constitution of District Religious Dispute Resolution Board, amending of substantive law i.e. Chapter XV PPC, the relevant provisions of Cr.P.C i.e. Ss 196 & 196-B and Police Order 2002, mandating Federal Intelligence Agencies to provide first hand information at Divisional level, Establishment of Special Force for Protection and Protocol of VIPs and other vulnerable persons, Gradation of the District on the basis of sensitivity and enhancement of the law enforcing personnel accordingly were demanded.
On 15th June 2015, In front of Press Club Faisalabad, a protest demonstration was staged by Peace for nation International (PNI) & Women Social Organization (WSO) to show solidarity with Muslims of Burma. The killing of innocent Muslims in Burma was strongly condemned and immediate measures were demanded from United Nations to stop bloodshed in Burma. The protest was joined by 150 people belong to different walks of life. The participants were chanting slogans against violation of basic rights of Muslims in Burma.

On 18th June 2015, in front of Press Club Faisalabad, a protest demonstration entitled “Ensure Protection of Minority Rights” was staged by Peace & Human Development Foundation (PHD), Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM), Peace for Nation International (PNI), Adara Samaji Bebod (ASB), Lyall Pur Development Organization (LDO) and REAT Network of HRDs Faisalabad. The Protest was joined by 150 people belong to different spheres of life. The participants were chanting slogans in support of their demands.
They demanded that, the federal Government should constitute a task force tasked with developing a strategy of religious tolerance. The family Laws for Non-Muslims (Sikh, Hindu & Kilash) must be enacted and personal Laws for Christians must be reformed. The Government must develop appropriate educational curricula at school and college levels to promote a culture of religious and social tolerance. The federal and all provincial governments shall ensure the enforcement of the relevant policy directives regarding reservation of quota for minorities in all services for their economic uplift. The federal and all provincial governments must set up special Police force with special training to take pro-active stance to protect settlements and workshop places of Non-Muslims from mob attacks. The government must constitute a National council for Minorities’ Rights to monitor the practical realization of the rights and safeguards provided to the minorities under and the Constitution and Law, and frame policy recommendations to safeguard and protect Minorities’ rights.
